  1. Bees are endangered – A lot of people don’t know that bees are endangered. This could affect humans on a massive scale so we want to keep these little guys around and thriving. Beekeeping can help that. The more people beekeeping, the more people become knowledgeable about bees. So do your part to help.

  2. Unique Money – Don’t fight for money in an over-saturate industry. From selling honey to selling bees there are plenty of ways to make money with beekeeping. It can be the byproducts, like honey, beeswax, propolis, or pollen, or services, like bee removal, or pollination that can make you big bucks in this business. Use your imagination and the possibilities are endless.

  3. Gateway drug – When you take that leap into beekeeping you will also begin to open your mind to a lot of other things. Gardening and farming is something that I never desired to do but when I started beekeeping I was overwhelmed with a desire to become more self-efficient. Suddenly I wanted to grow my own herbs and veggies. I also have been thinking of getting a few chickens. It makes a man proud to eat off his own land.

  4. Welcome to Easy st. – Part-time or Full-time anyone can keep bees. The average age for beekeeping is 65 so you know there is not a lot of physical work to be done. You don’t have to constantly check on your bees. 1 time a month is plenty enough. The most time you will spend with your bees is during honey harvest times. Of course this depends on how big your operation is as well. If you are back yard beekeeping for recreation you will not spend hardly anytime messing with your bees. If you keep bees commercially then you will have to spend a good bit of time with them. It is really up to you and rather you want to do it part-time or full-time.

  5. Unique – How many black beekeepers do you know? I’ll wait…. I thought so. Beekeeping has been around since the beginning of time yet there are hardly any black people doing it in the US. This alone Is one of the main reasons that I got into beekeeping. I like to think outside of the box. Beekeeping has been the same for hundreds of years and I feel like we can add a lil swag to it. You should see the look on people’s faces when I tell them that I am a beekeeper. Definitely a conversation piece for me. What makes you unique?

  6. Therapeutic – Maybe it’s the buzz of the bees or the amount of concentration used while beekeeping trying to avoid being stung, but beekeeping is super relaxing. It gives me a purpose. There is nothing like putting in an empty frame and going back later to see that your babies have built you a frame of liquid gold (honey). It gives you a sense of pride like no other. Business life can be so stressful, meetings, payroll, “people”, lol. Sometimes you need a break. Keeping bees is a way to get paid for taking that break. Your “break” is your business. How many people can say that. I can!
